OSHEAGA

In its 5th anniversary, the Osheaga festival wows everyone with the headliner: Eminem.

Eminem, back after more than a decade.
How did they pin down such a high ranking (popularity-wise) artist?
This could lead to either good or bad results.
The good: a huge number of people now acknowledge Osheaga's existence. The organizers are even expecting the Parc-Jean-Drapeau festival to be sold out during the day Eminem performs. That would be a first for Osheaga.
The bad: Osheaga is and will always be a festival filled with indie acts. Will the Eminem fans even bother to check out other bands? Will they come to future iterations of Osheaga? Will Osheaga become a "one-hit-wonder" to them? The organizers will have to come up with an act that matches Eminem's popularity to reach that "crowd" again in the upcoming years. Some fans are even referring to Osheaga as "The Eminem Concert".

But whatever, only music nerds are concerned with such useless concerns. It's all about the music. Osheaga is a festival of great independent music since its inception back in 2006 and it's bound to stay that way.

I'm going for one group in particular:CRYSTAL CASTLES
It's going to be their second time at Parc Jean-Drapeau. I was there at their first set back in 2009. It was absolutely horrible.

The notorious duo from Toronto, Ontario.
-arrive 1 hour late
-female singer is drunk as hell
-sound settings are horrendously bad
-unlistenable
-lasted only 20 minutes
-such an awful way to end the festival

However, I had the chance to see them again in 2010. They were killer. The female, Alice, delivered in a unprecedented way, to my experience.
My faith in them has then been restored.
